Almost all the parents are familiar with the scenario when they bring their child to the hospitals for their any kind of check-ups or anything else, they start crying or screaming and many types of tantrums they have to face as no one can relate to being fearful or anxious about the needles.

The phobia of needles is one of the most common phobias among children at the time of receiving vaccines or when they have to deal with the needles on numerous occasions throughout their childhood. Due to this, many children start fearing and suffer from anxiety and pain. Sometimes these phobias cause the parents to delay in the scheduled visits with the doctors.

So a team of the researchers with Top M Tech College in Jaipur has come up with the innovative solution in order to distract the children from their fear, anxiety and pain by using a virtual reality headset. This finding of the researchers has been published in many news papers. This idea has come into the minds of the researchers when a child has come to the doctor for his check-up. He put his goggles when the doctors were about to give him an injection and he did not feel any pain.

It has been suggested by the prior researches that humans have a limited capacity for attention and that’s why if a person is attending to another stimulus away from the noxious stimulus, they can perceive the painful stimulus less. Since then, no study has been conducted by the researchers at the virtual reality distraction at the time of pediatric immunizations so the researchers have decided to give it a shot.

 The main goal of the study by Best Engineering College in Jaipur was to test the feasibility, efficiency as well as usefulness of usage of virtual reality headset as a source of decreasing the fear as well as pain which is associated with the immunizations in these patterns. The study of the researchers has focused on fear and pain.


For the purpose of this study, a 3d virtual reality headset and smart phone app has been used by the researchers which have been inserted into the goggles and the choice is given to the children of many kinds of entertainment activities.
