Face Recognition by Brains
A new computational model has been developed by the team of researchers that deals with face recognition mechanism of the human brain and it seems to capture aspects of the human neurology which has been missed by the previous models. A machine learning system has been developed by the team of researchers which implemented their model as well as trained it in order to recognize particular faces by feeding it a battery of the sample images.
It has been found by the researchers with Best Engineering College Jaipur that this trained system also included an intermediate processing step which represented a face’s degree of rotation but not the direction which is left or right. This property has not been built in this system as it has emerged spontaneously from the training process but on the same hand, it duplicates an experimentally observed feature of the primate face processing mechanism.
This has been considered as an indication by the researchers that their system as well as the brain is doing something similar. According to the researchers, models are kind of cartoons of reality and especially in biology. So it would be surprising fact if the things turn out to be this simple as this is the strong evidence which they are on the right track.
This research has been published in many newspapers by Top 10 Engineering College Rajasthan which also include a mathematical proof which is the particular type of machine learning system they use as it was intended in order to offer a biologically plausible model of the nervous system and it will inevitably yield intermediary representations which are indifferent to the angle of rotations.
